Most Popular City Among Tourists; Paris

Paris ' streets, known as "City of Light" or "City of Love," are filled with tradition, art, prettiness and history. Whether you've been looking for the water lilies of Monet in the Orangerie Museum,Standing in wonder in front of the Eiffel Tower, or looking for the best crepes along the Seine, Paris is a city that captures the hearts of millions of people every year.

Here are some facts about paris:

  • The Eiffel Tower was to be a momentary system installed, designed to stand for 20 years after almost being built for the World's fair in 1889.
  • Originally a Roman City called "Lutetia," Paris was claimed to have only one stop sign throughout the city.
  • For 70 years an apartment in Paris was left unoccupied under lock and key, but the rent was paid every month; a painting was made when the renter passed away,Boldini's artwork was discovered inside, estimated at over $2 million.
  • At least three replicas of the Statue of Liberty can be found in France. The most prominent of them is located on an island in the middle of the Seine, and faces at her New York sister figure.
  • The Notre Dame Cathedral's largest bell is called Emmanuel and weights more than 13 tons.
  • In Paris there are 6,100 avenues or streets; the smallest one, Rue des Degrés, is only 5.75 meters long and can be found in France.
